Third survey of 2020



Here are the results of our 3rd survey of the year from more than 500 respondents. Topics include racism, the police, and protests.


I trust the Concord Police to respond appropriately to my 911 calls.

“Laws and rules are only enforced if you're white---and it is the City Council's fault.”

“I don't have to. I and others I know have had bad experiences with other(s) so we expect it.”

“No. And my circle of friends and family haven't either. It is a professional organization with officers that want to help.”

“I know that in the budget are a number of initiatives that have nothing to do with Law Enforcement and that are dumped on Law Enforcement such as homeless intervention and dealing with their mental and physical health challenges.”

Thinking of the last time when you called 911 for a crime would you have accepted a non-police officer to respond?

“I have never called 911 for a crime. The last time I called 911 was not a crime. A student was heavily intoxicated and erratic. They needed medical care, but the police were the only option.”


When you hear “Defund the Police” from Black Lives Matter rallies what is the first thing that you think they are saying?

Scenario: Several hundred folks rush a retail area intent on looting. The police have the options below. Which do you support (check all that apply)?

“The assumption looting will occur before it does is paranoia. Assuming bad intention from groups of people is usually unfounded.”
